FAQ

Straight answers,
before you ask

The questions we hear most from patients traveling from the U.S. — answered plainly, the way we'd want them answered.

What is the best age to have this procedure done?

Age has nothing to do with it once your hair loss has settled into a pattern. Genetics and your personal situation do. Most clients wait longer than they should, and almost every client tells us, "I wish I would have done this years ago." Why extend the inevitable and walk around with thinning hair when you have an easy fix right in front of you? If your loss is still changing quickly, we'll tell you honestly in your consultation, and the Encore Longevity protocol can help protect your hair until the timing is right.

Is Bogotá safe?

Yes, but don't take our word for it. Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, a U.S. travel insurer, calls Bogotá "one of South America's safest urban areas" and reports a violent crime rate lower than Indianapolis. Like any big city, it rewards common sense, and you won't be navigating it alone: we handle your airport pickup, hotel, and every transfer to and from the clinic.

Will my hair keep getting thinner?

Yes and no. The no: the hair we transplant comes from the back and sides of your head, which is genetically resistant to DHT, the hormone behind pattern hair loss. It keeps that resistance in its new spot, so your transplanted hair is built to last for decades. The yes: your native hair doesn't have that protection, and DHT will keep chipping away at it over time. That's why we can't overemphasize protecting it, whether or not you have a procedure. Our team invested a lot of time and money designing the protocol at Encore Longevity for exactly that.

Does 'unlimited grafts' really mean unlimited?

Yes — unlimited means unlimited. Many clinics advertise 'unlimited' but cap you mid-procedure and reach for your credit card. At Encore, your surgeon designs your hairline around what your donor supply can actually support, and the graft count never changes the price.

Who performs the procedure?

A board-certified surgeon — always. Every procedure is performed by a dedicated surgeon, supported by two licensed technicians and an anesthesiologist. We cap the day at three procedures, so no case is rushed to make room for the next.

How is Encore different from the clinics in Turkey?

The Turkish clinic model is an assembly line: large clinics perform as many as 70 procedures a day with only a few doctors on staff, and medical technicians do the delicate work. If you insist a real surgeon performs your procedure there, it's sold as a luxury tier with a large up-charge. At Encore, surgeon-performed care is the standard — included in one flat fee. Isn't Turkey the best at hair transplants?

That reputation was built on social media and massive marketing — not on any specialty trick Turkey keeps to itself. Skilled surgeons perform these procedures in every country, including the U.S. and right here in Colombia. What separates a great result from a disaster is who holds the tools: a board-certified surgeon or an assistant trained on the job. I've seen enough botched work from the volume model that I'd never gamble my own hair on it — and I strongly recommend you don't either. The gap in outcomes between med-techs and trained surgeons isn't even close.

What technology do you use?

We use the Trivellini System for extraction — a high-tech punch very few clinics have. Implantation is always done by hand, by your board-certified surgeon and his trained team. Our team stays active in the latest advancements and participates in global hair-restoration events.

What does the trip look like?

Day 1, arrive and settle into your five-star hotel. Day 2, a medical exam at your hotel, then enjoy the city and an amazing dinner. Day 3 is procedure day. Day 4, you fly home.

Can I extend my trip or build this into an extended South American journey?

Yes. Extra nights in Bogotá are easy — we extend our corporate hotel rates to cover them, and if you have questions about other cities in Colombia, we'll gladly give you our best advice. One strong suggestion: have your procedure at the end of your trip, not the beginning, so you're recovering at home rather than on the road.

What happens after I fly home?

Check-ins via video call on day 4 and day 10 — and whenever you have questions, your care team answers. Aftercare follows the Encore protocol: gentle washing, sleep positioning, and the Encore Longevity regimen — red light therapy plus a non-hormonal DHT blocker — to help protect your transplanted grafts and native hair.

When will I see results?

Transplanted hair sheds in the weeks after the procedure before it regrows — that's normal. Visible thickening builds over the following months, with full results typically maturing around a year. Individual results vary; your surgeon sets expectations for your specific case during consultation.
