Meet Encore

Born out of frustration. Built as the answer.

Encore Bogotá started the way most good ideas do — with a problem. After a series of frustrating consultations with Turkish clinics, and a few quotes in the U.S. that exceeded $20,000, it was clear the choice patients were being offered was broken: an assembly line abroad, or a mortgage payment at home.

So the search began with three requirements: a location with a highly rated healthcare system, close proximity to the U.S., and the ability to offer exceptional care at a genuinely great value. Bogotá checked every box.

Next came the partners. That meant moving to Bogotá and sitting down with doctor after doctor and clinic after clinic until the right team was found. And rather than ask patients to trust a decision we hadn’t made ourselves, we put our money where our mouth is — jumped on the table, and had our own transplant.

We then blended our expertise — surgeon-led care, five-star service, and one flat fee — and Encore was born.

The patient who
built the clinic

Greg’s career has always been as an entrepreneur — building companies across the world: Asia, Europe, and of course South America. The region always had his heart.

It was while working on another project there that he went looking for a hair transplant of his own — and found the idea he couldn’t shake. World-class surgeons, a healthcare system with a serious reputation, and honest pricing, all a short flight from home. All that was missing was the clinic built around it.

So he did what founders do: he built it. Encore is what happens when a company is designed by a patient, for patients — no assembly line, no surprises, just the experience he wanted for himself.

Hair restoration is a specialty without a single global rulebook, so credentials vary widely from country to country. Here is what legitimate training and oversight look like in Colombia — and the international organizations that set the bar worldwide.

Required in Colombia

  • Primary medical license (MD / Cirujano General)

A general medicine degree from an accredited Colombian university, or a foreign degree officially validated through the Ministry of National Education.

  • REPS registration

Colombia's Registro Especial de Prestadores de Servicios de Salud, managed by the Ministry of Health. Physicians and their clinics must be active in REPS, confirming they are authorized to perform procedures in an accredited facility.

  • Specialty certification

Performing invasive surgical hair restoration as a primary specialist typically requires a recognized residency in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (SCCP) or Dermatology (Asocolderma).

Global certifications & organizations

  • ISHRS / FISHRS

The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery is the leading global educational society in the field. Fellow status (FISHRS) requires demonstrated clinical experience, peer-reviewed publications, leadership roles, and continuous medical education.

  • IBHRS

The International Board of Hair Restoration Surgery operates alongside the ABHRS to certify surgeons practicing outside the United States under equivalent standards.

  • SILATC

The Sociedad Iberoamericana de Trasplante Capilar focuses on hair transplant standards, continuous education, and research across Ibero-American and Latin American countries.
